Code of Honor is signed when a person joins the brotherhood.

Brotherhood Oath is taken once a member is formally knighted into the Brotherhood.

As members of the Bachata Brotherhood, we commit ourselves to conduct that reflects discipline, respect, loyalty, and passion. This Code of Honor serves as the standard by which we carry ourselves on and off the dance floor.

1. RESPECT ABOVE ALL
Treat every member, instructor, teammate, and dance partner with dignity, courtesy, and respect.
​
2. HONOR YOUR COMMITMENT
Be punctual, prepared, and dependable. If you cannot attend or fulfill a responsibility, communicate honestly and promptly.
​
3. CARRY YOURSELF WITH INTEGRITY
Be truthful, accountable, and honorable in your actions. Represent the Brotherhood with character at all times.
​
4. PURSUE EXCELLENCE
Train with discipline, accept correction with humility, and strive to improve in skill, attitude, and leadership.
​
5. SUPPORT THE BROTHERHOOD
Encourage your fellow brothers, build each other up, and contribute to a culture of unity rather than division.
​
6. PROTECT THE SPACE
Maintain a safe, welcoming, and professional environment free from harassment, disrespect, or unnecessary drama.
​
7. RESPECT THE ART
Honor the music, the culture, and the traditions of bachata through dedicated practice and genuine appreciation.
​
8. LEAD BY EXAMPLE
Whether in class, performance, social events, or online, act in a way that reflects maturity, discipline, and pride.

9. RESOLVE CONFLICT WITH MATURITY
Address concerns directly, calmly, and respectfully. Seek understanding before judgment.
​
10. UPHOLD THE BROTHERHOOD BEYOND THE DANCE FLOOR
The values of the Brotherhood do not end at rehearsal. Carry loyalty, humility, and honor into everyday life.

BACHATA BROTHERHOOD
BROTHERHOOD OATH

Having walked the path of the Squire and having trained beside my brothers,
I now enter the Bachata Brotherhood ready to be knighted.
I make this oath freely, with pride and with purpose.

I. UNITY
I pledge to build a lifelong brotherhood founded on friendship and respect.
I will treat my brothers with dignity, honesty, and loyalty.
I will celebrate their victories, and stand beside them through their struggles.Â
I will seek to strengthen the bonds that unite us.
​
True brotherhood lives beyond the dance floor.
​
II. GROWTH
I pledge to pursue dance through discipline, creativity, and personal growth.
I will train with purpose.
I will remain humble enough to learn.
I will be courageous enough to challenge myself.
I will be disciplined enough to continue when progress is difficult.
I will encourage my brothers to reach their highest potential.

As we grow in dance, so too shall we grow in character and purpose.

III. HONOR
I pledge to honor bachata, its culture, its history, and its roots.
I will approach this art with respect and gratitude for those who came before us.
I will also do the same for the communities that continue to carry it forward.
I will represent bachata with integrity and help preserve its Spirit.

Before we seek to understand the dance, we must first respect the tradition that gave it life.

IV. RESPECT
I pledge to help keep bachata safe, welcoming, and fun.
I will respect the boundaries, dignity, and well-being of those with whom I dance.
I will use my place within the Brotherhood to build others up rather than tear them down.
I will contribute to a community where people can dance with confidence, trust, and joy.
